  OUR STORY

BlackClover Endurance was founded by Ryan Besaw, an active-duty U.S. Army Ranger with more than a decade of military service experience within the special operations community.
Ryan enlisted in 2015, started off at Fort Bragg NC where he earned his Ranger Tab, then became an airborne instructor at Fort Benning Ga, then earned the opportunity to serve in the 75th Ranger Regiment, where he continues to serve today. Throughout his career, he has completed multiple military selections and some of the Army’s most demanding schools and training programs, while serving alongside some of the world's highest-performing military athletes. During his time in the Ranger Regiment, Ryan developed a philosophy that would eventually become the foundation of BlackClover Endurance: MASTER THE BASICS.
Within the Regiment, mastering the basics is fundamental to performance. Before someone can perform at an elite level, they must first become exceptionally good at the fundamentals. Preparation, discipline, attention to detail, physical readiness, teamwork, and consistent execution are principles Ryan has carried from his military career into every other area of his life.
Outside of the military, Ryan has spent more than a decade running and training as an endurance athlete. His experience includes numerous ultramarathons and years of training across running, strength, and endurance disciplines. That combination of military and endurance experience gave him firsthand insight into what athletes need when performing for extended periods in demanding environments.

Alongside Ryan is his business partner and best friend, Brad—an ultramarathon runner, pilot, and someone committed to living sober. Brad brings his own experience with endurance, discipline, and perseverance to BlackClover Endurance.

Together, Ryan and Brad share a belief that progress comes from showing up, putting in the work, and mastering the basics. Their friendship and shared commitment to doing hard things help shape the company and the community they’re building.

After years of working with high-performing military athletes, competing in endurance events, and spending time in environments where physical and mental performance matter, Ryan wanted to create products he would trust for the people standing beside him.
Not just for the runners or the Ranger carrying a ruck for miles. The ultrarunner deep into a race. The hunter moving through the backcountry. The climber ascending a mountain. And anyone who willingly chooses to do difficult things.
BlackClover's mission is to build exceptional performance products for those people—products developed around purpose, transparency, and performance rather than hype.
Because whether you're preparing for a mission, an ultramarathon, a mountain, or your next challenge, the philosophy remains the same:
MASTER THE BASICS.
Everything else is built from there.
